Background
A thorough investigation of articles, organization structures, personal stories, and raw statistics, showed that ex-racehorses do not go to good homes or retire to nice grassy fields as most expect.

Interviews with leaders in the thoroughbred aftercare industry exposed that in actuality a retired racehorse's fate often includes neglect, abuse or slaughter.

In order to effectively stop the slaying of innocent creatures, awareness of this issue needs to be raised within the racing and equine industries. Upon studying the structure of various existing organizations, it was found that this problem extends beyond racehorse owners. Trainers, racing industry officials, thoroughbred breeders, aftercare facilities, track patrons and bettors, and horse enthusiasts also need to be held accountable and work towards a solution. Although steps are being taken currently to increase funds and adoption, there is a lack of organization within these individual efforts.

Mission Statement
To prevent the abuse and neglect of ex-racehorses, Collected Strides promotes proper thoroughbred aftercare by connecting all members of the horse racing industry and ensuring members provide excellent care of their horses before, during and after their racing careers.
